SIMPLY EAT HEALTHY!
A healthy diet is one made of a balanced combination of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals in the appropriate quantities, quality and within the correct caloric value for you.
A healthy diet has many health benefits. When you make healthier food choices, you consume nutrient dense foods that will ensure adequate intake of all nutrients and minimal intake of the wrong food e.g. Bad cholesterol (triglycerides and low density lipoproteins). This will ensure you are of appropriate weight for your height. If on the other hand, you are not making healthy food choices, you are at increased risk of obesity and overweight. You can also be at increased risk of being underweight with the attendant issues e.g. osteoporosis in later life.
Obesity and overweight put you at risk of high blood pressure, diabetes, certain kinds of cancer, gall bladder disease, arthritis in the weight bearing joints(e.g. spine, hips, knees), depression, low self-esteem, certain sleep disorders (obstructive sleep apnea).
Therefore, lose weight if you are Obese or overweight.
In order to loose weight effectively and sustain the weight loss, it is best to go on a programme (under the supervision of the full compliment of a weight management health care team) that combines diet and exercise alongside other scientifically proven interventions. Gradual, steady weight loss over a period of 6-12months, or even up to 24 months, depending on how many kilogram weight loss is required, is the best way of loosing weight and keeping it off.
